4/23 AOMM Training
This week’s AOMM will be John Cash’s Climb to Conquer Cancer in Tryon. This year’s donations will go to the Gibbs Cancer System survivorship program and are tax deductible. Johns goal is to do 10 trips up and down the Saluda Grade for a total of 84 miles and 10,000+ feet of climb. It’s up to each individual as to how many trips you make up the grade so come on out for some mountain training, fun with other cyclists and that warm feeling you get when you do something for others. Worst that can happen is you finally try one trip too many up the grade and turn around and coast back to the car.
When: Saturday 4/23/16 – first trip up the mountain starts at 8:00 am
Where: Caro-Mi Restaurant – 3231 US Hwy 176, Tryon, NC 28782. This is at the bottom of the climb
$10.00 donation to do the ride.
Ride info: Flyer attached with information – basically up and down Saluda Grade as many times as you like. As I understand it there will be Pizza donated for the ride, sports drinks and I would assume water will be available. Parking is at the bottom of the climb so you could bring whatever you want to eat and drink between trips up the mountain. The climb up the mountain is approximately 4 miles and 1100+ feet of climb. Road is in great condition as it was repaved in the last couple of years. I don’t think there is a required entry fee but donations are cheerfully accepted.
Store stops: up to you. There is a store probably 3 miles away in Tryon that we often use for stops or a couple of places at the top in Saluda, NC.
SAG: I’m sure someone will be available to take care of any problems that might require transportation back to the start.
